La Tendenza Italian Architectures Exhibition

A trip to Paris this summer included a visit to the Pompidou Centre. An exhibition on post-war Italian architecture, "La Tendenza, 1965-1985" was well worth a look with lots of drawings, models and paintings, many by the brilliant Architect Aldo Rossi. The exhibition had a real focus on the process of design and the changing attitudes to architecture. A particular highlight was the original model and drawings for Rossi’s San Cataldo Cemetery.

ArchiGrad Expands

ArchiGrad is a model set up jointly by Plus 3 Architecture, Northern Architecture, Northumbria and Newcastle Universities to allow Architectural Graduates to continue to develop and showcase their abilities whilst actively seeking work.

Following the success of the ArchiGrad model MADE are looking to develop a Birmingham based GRAD offer aimed at providing the young people of the West Midlands the opportunity to develop their skills and talents to improving the built environment.

GREEN INCUBATOR FIELD TRIP

Our Green Incubator office project in South Shields is nearing completion and we decided that whilst the sun was shining we would go and pay it a visit.

The internal finishes to the Green Incubator project are well under way with only 2 weeks to go till practical completion.

The colours we have used form part of the way finding and branding strategy.

REDCAR LEISURE AND COMMUNITY HEART BEGINS

Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland borough council, Olwyn Peters officially marks the start of building works for the Redcar Leisure and Community Heart project.

The project is a new £31m development to be delivered as part of the towns regeneration masterplan to attract investment, create jobs and grow the local economy

ALLENDALE CHALLENGE

On Saturday team +3 embarked on the Allendale challenge, a 26 mile trek across the North Pennines. 

The conditions were perfect with the team completing it in just 9 and half hours. 

Here is a photo of us all at the starting line raring to go. 

THE MEWS

Our most recent project 'The Mews' reached practical completion this morning. The project consists of a new single storey link building and internal alterations to an existing grade 2 listed property.

BREEAM AWARDS

We are pleased to announce that the Green Incubator project has picked up a BREEAM award last night for the highest scoring commercial office development of 2011.

MORE GREEN

Site progress has ramped up on our Green Incubator office development in South Shields. The external cladding is almost complete whilst the landscaping and internal finishes are all starting to take shape..

Not Long to go.....

ROYAL OPENING OF 1 HARTON QUAY

1 Harton Quay was officially opened by His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester on 8 February. It was a glorious day on South Tyneside and the event was attended by a wide range of guests including local dignitaries and Ian Livingston, the CEO of BT Group PLC. The Duke was given a tour of the new building and met a number of the 500 new employees, 80% of whom come from the local area. This was followed by a private briefing where the Duke, an architect by training, was given a presentation on how the scheme has developed and the role it will play in acting as a catalyst for the ongoing regeneration for the riverside.

Grenfell PC

The finishing touches are under way on our Grenfell community centre project, ready for completion next week. This project has been a lot of fun.

We were excited to see the windows and coloured panelling being installed on our Green Incubator project yesterday, continuing our theme of green buildings.

2012

The end of 2011 was an exciting time for +3A with the completion of Harton Staithes office development. 2012 is going to be no different with our Green Incubator office development (bottom) and Grenfell community centre (top) approaching completion. Our biggest project to date, the Redcar Leisure and Community Heart is also due to begin on site in Feb.
